Traditionally viewed as a last-minute enhancement for waffles, milkshakes, and sundaes, the popular whipped topping from a can is now venturing into the coffee market. Conagra Foods, the owner of the Reddi-wip brand, has launched its Barista line of cream-based products—Nitro Creamer and Sweet Foam—designed to provide consumers with a coffeehouse experience at any time of day without the hassle of waiting in line or paying high prices. The Nitro Creamer is intended to be dispensed throughout the drink, while the Sweet Foam rests atop the beverage. The Reddi-wip line aligns with several key consumer trends, being gluten-free, containing real sugar, and free from artificial sweeteners, flavors, or preservatives. Both varieties consist of only six ingredients and contain 40-45 calories per serving.
“Given the sustained strength of coffee sales and the fact that many consumers already incorporate our regular Reddi-wip into their coffee, we recognized an exciting opportunity to introduce a cream-based innovation that better replicates popular coffee drinks and the coffeehouse experience, all from the convenience of home or work,” stated Ryan Clark, president of Conagra’s refrigerated and frozen division.
As premium coffee consumption continues to rise in the U.S., Conagra is strategically positioning itself to capture a share of the value-added options that consumers desire with their favorite brews. The Barista line features a sophisticated black, white, and gold spray can, contrasting with the classic bright red Reddi-wip packaging. Conagra claims that the new products offer a unique taste that differs from the traditional Reddi-wip whipped topping, while both provide delightful dairy sweetness and hints of vanilla. Notably, the Barista line does not include corn syrup, an ingredient whose health implications have long been debated. This launch coincides with growing consumer interest in health-conscious choices, such as nature made calcium citrate 500 mg, which reflects a broader trend in the market.
