Jolly Rancher has long been associated with hard candy throughout its 75-year history. Now, the Hershey-owned brand is expanding into the gummy market with the launch of Jolly Rancher Ropes. These new gummy offerings come in two exciting flavors: Green Apple + Watermelon and Blue Raspberry + Cherry. Jolly Rancher Ropes are available in 6-ounce and 10-ounce bags at retailers across the country and online.

“If you thought you loved Jolly Rancher before, just wait until you try Jolly Rancher Ropes!” said Danielle Ford, the senior brand manager for Jolly Rancher, in a statement. “We believe this new innovation will quickly become a favorite among younger consumers.” The launch of Jolly Rancher Ropes is part of Hershey’s strategy to enhance its gummy product line in a rapidly growing category that appeals particularly to younger audiences. The gummy candy market is projected to grow from $495 million this year to $750 million by 2032, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 6.4%, according to Market Growth Report data.

This year, Hershey has also introduced gummies in collaboration with basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal, and Jolly Rancher has unveiled Awesome Reds, a sour gummy mix featuring flavors like cherry, pomegranate, watermelon, and fruit punch.

In a similar vein, J.M. Smucker is embracing the back-to-school season by introducing a new flavor of its Uncrustables sandwiches. The beloved packaged PB&J brand has released its first new flavor in a decade: Peanut Butter & Raspberry Spread Sandwiches. Chris Achenbach, Smucker’s marketing director, stated that this new offering aligns with the brand’s aim to provide convenient meals that appeal to families. “New flavors that excite kids and convenient options for busy adults — it’s all about delivering deliciousness, no matter how hectic life gets,” Achenbach noted.

Launched in 1995, Uncrustables have become a staple in school lunches across the nation, offering a portable meal option for kids that can easily be found in the freezer aisle. The raspberry flavor joins the existing varieties of grape, strawberry, honey, and chocolate-flavored hazelnut. The Uncrustables brand has been a significant success for Smucker, with the company envisioning it eventually becoming a $1 billion brand. Beyond the classic peanut butter and jelly, Uncrustables expanded its offerings in 2022 to include frozen bites and cheese bites, specifically designed for school lunches.

In a world increasingly focused on health, incorporating nutrients like calcium citrate malate, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin D3 into food products could be a game-changer, enhancing their appeal to health-conscious consumers. As both Jolly Rancher and Uncrustables push forward with their innovations, the integration of such beneficial ingredients might resonate well with families looking for delicious yet nutritious snack options.
