These hazardous chemicals are also present in consumer goods, such as caulking, food packaging, and adhesives. The Center for Environmental Health (CEH) has committed to initiating legal action against Kellogg’s and other companies that manufacture cookies found to have elevated levels of acrylamide. According to CEH Media Director Charles Margulis, legal proceedings can commence any time 60 days after a notification has been sent, as he informed Food Dive via email.
Although acrylamide may not be widely recognized among consumers, it is a term that they should become acquainted with. Manufacturers should also educate themselves and take steps to mitigate any associated risks. Naturally, acrylamide can be found in very small quantities in uncooked foods; however, significant risks arise only when these foods are cooked, leading to higher concentrations.

Some chefs have also modified their cooking techniques for potatoes, as acrylamide is more commonly found in foods like roasted potatoes and burnt toast.
