DuPont Nutrition & Health collaborates with food manufacturers and producers globally to “enhance food safety, health, taste, and production efficiency.” This initiative is referred to as finding food solutions, with the latest innovation being 90% protein nuggets. The three new plant-based nuggets, known as Supro Nuggets 580, Supro Nuggets 583, and Supro Nuggets 585, each possess distinct shapes, sizes, and textures, making them versatile for a variety of food products. According to DuPont, these nut, seed, and fruit nuggets can be incorporated into nutrition bars, clustered cereals, yogurt toppings, muesli, and innovative snack formats.

Previously, DuPont launched the first 90% protein nugget, Supro Nuggets 570, which features a light, crispy texture and a barrel shape. The new nuggets appear to be variations of the original, enhancing their applicability in diverse recipes. The impressive 90% protein content aligns with the current protein trend, as highlighted by Research and Markets, which estimates that the global protein ingredients market will reach $48.77 billion by 2025, according to Business Wire. As consumers increasingly seek higher protein content, DuPont provides manufacturers with an effective means to incorporate this ingredient.

While the demand for protein remains robust, potential concerns regarding animal welfare and the environmental effects of livestock farming could pose challenges in the future.
