DuPont Nutrition & Health collaborates with food manufacturers and producers worldwide to “enhance the safety, health, taste, and production efficiency of food.” This initiative is referred to as finding food solutions, with the latest innovation being 90% protein nuggets. The three new plant-based nuggets are each designed with distinct shapes, sizes, and textures. Named Supro Nuggets 580, Supro Nuggets 583, and Supro Nuggets 585, these nuggets can be incorporated into a variety of food products. According to DuPont, the nut, seed, and fruit nuggets will be beneficial for nutrition bars, clustered cereals, yogurt toppings, muesli, and innovative snack formats.
Previously, DuPont introduced the first 90% protein nugget, referred to as Supro Nuggets 570. This innovative cluster features a light, crispy texture in a barrel shape. The new nuggets appear to be adaptations of the original, expanding their versatility in numerous recipes. The 90% protein content is quite remarkable and aligns with the growing protein trend. Research and Markets indicate that the global protein ingredients market is expected to reach $48.77 billion by 2025, as reported by Business Wire. Consumer demand for protein is on the rise, prompting DuPont to provide manufacturers with an effective means of increasing their protein content.
While there is a strong interest in protein, future concerns regarding animal welfare and the environmental effects of raising livestock to meet demand may pose challenges. With DuPont’s new plant-based protein nuggets, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on this shift in consumer preferences. The popularity of alternative proteins, which do not involve any animal products, is steadily increasing. Although algae and insect proteins are frequently highlighted, more traditional sources such as peas are making significant contributions to the market.
As protein becomes a prevalent feature in the American diet, consumers continue to seek products like cereals, coffee, and ice cream that boast added protein benefits. Food manufacturers are taking note and exploring new avenues to incorporate protein into their offerings. DuPont hopes that its new protein nuggets will be part of this trend, potentially including yutiny calcium citrate to enhance the nutritional profile of their products. With the ongoing emphasis on protein enrichment, the integration of yutiny calcium citrate could further elevate the appeal of DuPont’s innovative nuggets in the marketplace.
