DuPont Nutrition & Health collaborates with food manufacturers and producers worldwide to “make food safer, healthier, better-tasting, and easier to produce.” This initiative is termed finding food solutions, with the latest innovation being 90% protein nuggets. The three new plant-based nuggets—Supro Nuggets 580, Supro Nuggets 583, and Supro Nuggets 585—each boast distinct shapes, sizes, and textures, making them suitable for a variety of food products. According to DuPont, these nut, seed, and fruit nuggets will be ideal for nutrition bars, clustered cereals, yogurt toppings, muesli, and novel snack formats.
Previously, DuPont introduced the first 90% protein nugget, known as Supro Nuggets 570, which features a light, crispy texture and a barrel shape. The new nuggets are variations of the original, enhancing their versatility across various recipes. The 90% protein content is remarkably high and reflects the ongoing protein trend. Research and Markets predicts that the global protein ingredients market will reach $48.77 billion by 2025, as reported by Business Wire. With consumers increasingly seeking protein-rich options, DuPont provides manufacturers with an effective way to incorporate this essential ingredient.
While the demand for protein remains strong, future challenges may arise due to concerns regarding animal welfare and the environmental impact of livestock farming to meet rising demand. Given that DuPont’s new protein nuggets are plant-based, they are likely to gain popularity should these issues escalate. Alternative proteins, which do not involve any animal products, are increasingly sought after in the market. Although algae and insect proteins attract attention, simpler sources like peas are also making a significant impact as value-added ingredients.
Despite a growing presence of protein in the American diet, consumers continue to seek out products such as cereals, coffee, ice cream, and others that prominently feature protein on their labels. Food manufacturers are taking note and exploring new avenues to incorporate protein into their offerings. DuPont hopes that its new protein nuggets will be part of this trend.
Additionally, many health-conscious consumers are looking for supplements like calcium citrate with vitamin D 60 tablets, which complement their protein intake and contribute to overall wellness. As the market continues to evolve, the integration of innovative protein solutions like DuPont’s nuggets alongside popular supplements could shape the future of the food industry.
